The Discussion Meeting on the Working Draft of BRICS Group Standard for Skills, Curriculum and Competition Standards of augmented and virtual reality was successfully held

On the evening of July 3rd, the discussion meeting on the working draft of BRICS Group Standard for competition, skills and curriculum standards of augmented and virtual realityorganized by the BRICS Standardization Working Committee for Skills and Technology (referred to as BRICS-SWCST), Technical Committee 2 on BRICS Technology and Skills of Standardization Administration in Xiamen, China, the International Alliance of Skills Development; and hosted by E.C.R Academy and BRICS Academy of Skills Development and Technology Innovation (Xiamen) , was successfully held. The meeting adopted a hybrid online-offline format. Over 150 participants from China, Brazil, South Africa, Russia, Malaysia, and other countries in the field of augmented and virtual reality technology fields£¬including 10 international experts.

The meeting focused on exchanging and discussing the working draft of BRICS Group Standard for competition, skills and curriculum standards of augmented and virtual reality,  which were launched in 2024 and led by China to compile the BRICS group standards. The meeting aimed to create technical and skills standards applicable to BRICS countries and Belt £¦ Road countries, and to promote the connectivity and exchange between China's vocational education and the world.

Dr. Liu Zhenying, the chairperson of the China Section of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group (referred to as BBC STIWG) , the chairman of BRICS-SWCST£¬attended the meeting and delivered a speech. First, Dr. Liu affirmed the importance of establishing of BRICS Group Standard for competition, skills and curriculum standards of "Augmented and Virtual Reality ". He stated that China Section of BBC STIWG will continue to actively promote the formulation and revision of BRICS Group Standards, using these standards as a guiding framework to provide theoretical support for related achievements. Additionally, Dr. Liu emphasized the crucial role of standardization in strengthening intellectual property outcomes, noting that this role is evident not only in technology research and development, market promotion, and investment cooperation to permeate the entire process of standardization system construction. He added that through systematic efforts, intellectual property assets can be effectively integrated and enhanced, laying a solid foundation for building BRICS-level intellectual property cooperation outcomes. Finally, Dr. Liu expressed gratitude to both international and Chinese experts present at the meeting.


Professors Jacobus Greeff£¬a member of BRICS-SWCST£¬Associate Professor from Belgium Campus iTVersity South Africa and PhD. Aslanov Roman£¬the college principal of State Budgetary Professional Educational Institution of the Krasnodar Territory "Ust-Labinsk Social and Pedagogical College£¬Russica£¬presented the current development status of augmented and virtual reality (AVR)£¬and related industries in both countries. They highlighted the extensive application and collaborative advancement of AVR technologies across educational institutions, enterprises, and industry organizations. The professors highly commended China's leadership in establishing skill standards, curriculum frameworks, and competition benchmarks, expressing strong aspirations for deeper cooperation and joint research with China and other BRICS nations in this field. They emphasized the need to promote internationalization of AVR industries to benefit more countries and enterprises globally.

Li Ang, deputy director of E.C.R Academy (E.C.R Academy as the lead unit of the project of the BRICS Group Standard for competition, skills and curriculum standards of AVR), briefed participating experts on the progress and arrangements in organizing the development of the BRICS Group Standard "Augmented and Virtual Reality Competition", expressing his expectation for the early release of the three group standards.



At the meeting, the chief editor units of the standard drafting working group of AVR Competition of the BRICS Group Standard including Xian Ning Vocational & Technical College, Guangzhou City University, Chengdu Industry & Trade Vocational College, and Hangzhou Wanwei Mirror Technology Co., Ltd., attended the meeting. The representatives first shared their institutions' achievements in professional development, standard formulation, and international collaboration. Subsequently, drafting experts (Yang Yanwei from Xian Ning Vocational & Technical College, Shi Hongxia from Guangzhou City University, and Wang Pei from Chengdu Industry & Trade Vocational College) elaborated on the background, structural design, and development process of three standards covering competitions, skills, and curricula, while providing feedback on collected stakeholder opinions.


The discussion was led by the following participants: Brazil¡ª¡ªMarcelo Vivacqua, The President of ABIPIR; Bruno Lopes Xavier, Coordinator of Research, Development and Innovation of SENAI Institute of Innovation in Virtual Production Systems. Malaysia¡ª¡ªDr. Dr Pua Chang Hong, general chairman of Kuala Lumpur Engineering Science Fair (KLESF) in Malaysia; Mr. Tan Chun Yuan (Patrick) , co-chairman of International Challenge competition of Kuala Lumpur Engineering Science Fair (KLESF). And other international experts, as well as Chinese experts attending the conference participated in the discussion.

The Chinese representatives at the meeting mainly came from institutions such as BRICS Academy of Skills Development and Technology Innovation (Xiamen), Xianning Vocational and Technical College, Guangzhou City Vocational College, Chengdu Industry & Trade Vocational College, Ningxia Vocational and Technical College, Huadian Vocational Education Center, Guangzhou Urban Construction Vocational College, Shunde Polytechnic, Shandong Labor Vocational and Technical College, and Hangzhou Wanwei Mirror Technology Co., Ltd.
