The Discussion Meeting on the Working Draft of BRICS Group Standard for Competition, Skills and Curriculum Standards of Industrial Design Technology was successfully held

On the evening of April 10th, the discussion meeting on the working draft of BRICS Group Standard for competition, skills and curriculum standards of Industrial Design Technology, organized by the BRICS Standardization Working Committee for Skills and Technology, Technical Committee 2 on BRICS Technology and Skills of Standardization Administration in Xiamen,China, the International Alliance of Skills Development; and hosted by E.C.R Academy and BRICS Academy of Skills Development and Technology Innovation (Xiamen) , was successfully held. The meeting, combining online and offline participation, attracted over a hundred experts, scholars, and corporate representatives from China, Brazil, Russia, South Africa, Iran, Indonesia, Pakistan, and other countries in the field of industrial design technology and related areas, including 14 international experts.
The meeting focused on the exchange and discussion of the working draft of BRICS Group Standard for competition, skills and curriculum standards of Industrial Design Technology, which were launched in 2024 and led by China to compile the BRICS group standards. The aim is to create technical and skills standards applicable to both BRICS countries and Belt & Road countries, promoting the connectivity and exchange of vocational education in China with the world.
Wu Jianfeng, a member of the BRICS Standardization Working Committee for Skills and Technology, Minister of Standards of BRICS Academy of Skills Development and Technology Innovation (Xiamen) , delivered remarks on behalf of Dr. Liu Zhenying, who is the chairperson of the China Section of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group, the chairman of BRICS Standardization Working Committee for Skills and Technology (hereinafter referred to as BBC STIWG). He conveyed Dr. Liu's appreciation for the work of the expert team on the draft of BRICS Group Standard for competition, skills and curriculum standards of Industrial Design Technology. Dr. Liu also expressed that the China Section of BBC STIWG will continue to actively promote the formulation and revision of the BRICS Group Standards, using these standards as a guide to provide theoretical support for relevant outcomes, and also expressed gratitude to the international and Chinese experts present at the meeting.
He Yong as the executive dean of E.C.R Academy (E.C.R Academy as the lead unit of the project of the BRICS Group Standard for competition, skills and curriculum standards of Drone Operation), introduced to the experts attending the meeting the relevant work of organizing and developing the BRICS group standard of Industrial Design Technology, and expressed his expectation for the early release of the three group standards.
The working draft of BRICS Group Standard for competition, skills and curriculum of Industrial Design Technology have received revision comments from experts and their teams at the Russian Industrial Design Technology Association, the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil, the University of the State of Parana, the Durban Municipal College in South Africa, as well as experts from multiple Chinese institutions and enterprises.
At the meeting, representatives from —— Guangzhou City University and Wuxi Lixin Higher Vocational School attended to introduce their achievements in professional development, standard writing, and international cooperation. Meanwhile, Chinese experts in industrial design such as Xiao Yao from Guangzhou City Vocational College, Fu Wentao from Guangzhou City University, and Pan Cenxin from Wuxi Lixin Higher Vocational School respectively introduced the background, structural design, and writing process of the three standards—competition, skills, and curriculum—and provided feedback on the opinions collected from all parties.
In the discussion session, Dr. Valerio Junior Piana, Internationalization Coordinator of SENAI Institutes of Innovation and Technology; Marcelo Vivacqua, the president of ABIPIR; Pro. Harrysson Luiz da Silva, Federal University of Santa Catarina; Pro. Camilo Freddy Morejong, University of Western Paraná; Ricardo Oliveira, industrial technology consultant and engineer; Andrei Ermakov, the originator of Tecnical Association of Industrial Design in Russia; Dr. Mpilo Ngubane, the CEO of Thekwini Municipal Academy; Jacob Jacobus Greeff, associate professor at the School of Computer Science and Information Systems, University of the North West, South Africa, and the member of the BRICS Standardization Committee for Skills and Technology;Tri Mumpuni, Board Member of IBEKA (Indonesia Business and Economic Democracy Foundation) and Head of the Indonesian Research and Innovation Agency; Mohsin Ali, (Intellectual Property Expert for the China-BRICS New Era Science and Technology Incubation Park and Comprehensive Service Center) from Pakistan, among over ten international experts, participated in the discussion. The experts who joined the discussion expressed their approval of the three standards developed by China and looked forward to in-depth cooperation and exchange with Chinese vocational colleges and experts through standardization activities.
Finally, Li Ang, deputy director of E.C.R Academy, introduced to Chinese and foreign experts the follow-up arrangements for the formulation of BRICS Group Standard for competition, skills and curriculum standards of Industrial Design Technology.
The Chinese representatives present mainly came from Guangzhou City Vocational College, Wuxi Lixin Higher Vocational and Technical School, Taizhou Technician College, Changzhou Tourism and Trade Higher Vocational and Technical College, Shandong Transportation Technician College, Northern Mechanical and Electrical Industry School, Fuling Vocational Education Center in Chongqing, Yueyang Vocational and Technical College, Qinhuangdao Vocational and Technical College, Zhejiang Information Engineering School, Zhuozi County Vocational Middle School, Quzhou Second Secondary Professional School, Fujian Institute of Technology, Wenling City Vocational and Technical School, Zhuhai City Vocational and Technical College, Shanghai Information Management School, Huainan Vocational Education Center, and Shanghai Aowei Digital Technology Co., Ltd.
