Inaugural Meeting of Standard Drafting Working Group for BRICS Organization Standard "Digital Capabilities in Business" Event

On September 11, 2024, the inaugural meeting of the drafting working group for the three standards of the BRICSorganization standard "Digital Capabilities in Business" competition, skill, curriculum was successfully held. 57 people attended the meeting, including members of the standard drafting working group, members of the secretariat ofthe BRICS Standardization Working Committee for Skills and Technology (hereinafter referred to as the BRICS Standardization Committee), members of the BRICS Standardization Committee, industry representatives, experts and teacher representatives from vocational colleges across the country, including about 20 international experts from South Africa, Brazil and other countries.
Dr. Liu Zhenying,Chairman of China Section of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group, Director of BRICS Standardization Working Committee for Skills and Technology, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He affirmed the importance of the formulation of three group standards for competition, skill, curriculum in the "Digital Capabilities in Business"event, and pointed out that he hoped that all relevant units would actively participate in the formulation of BRICSorganization standards, deepen international cooperation, and help open up high-level education to the outside world. At the meeting, Wu Jianfeng, director of the BRICS Academy of Skills Development and Technology Innovation (Xiamen), introduced the progress and achievements of the BRICS Standardization Committee to the participants. Nomsa Gumbi, representative of the South African Department of Higher Education and Training, and Bonolo Sedupane, representative of South Africa Section of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group, and other guests attended the meeting.

The conference invited experts and scholars such as Jacob Jacobus Greeff, Associate Dean of the School of Computer Science and Information Systems at North-West University in South Africa and member of the BRICS Standardization Committee, Darelle van Greunen, Director of the Centre for Community Technologies, Nelson Mandela University and Distinguished Professor of Information Technology, Valério Junior Piana, an expert from the National Service for Industrial Training (SENAI), Li Hui, Professor of the School of Finance and Economics of Wuhan CityPolytechnic, and Feng Lei, Professor of the School of Digital Business of Beijing Information Technology College, to introduce and discuss the application and development prospects of "Digital Capabilities in Business" technology at home and abroad.
Associate Professor Jacob Jacobus Greeff shared the value of business digitalization capability to enterprises, summarized the professional skills and technologies involved, and expressed his expectation for the subsequent standardization results of skill development and innovation.

Professor Darelle van Greunen delivered a keynote speech entitled "Human Centred innovation for Business Development", introducing the challenges and opportunities of current business digital capabilities, and proposed that business digital development should be people-oriented and empower individuals.

Professor Li Hui delivered a keynote speech on "The New Era of Business Digitalization", introducing the technological trends, application areas and future skill requirements of business digitalization.

Professor Feng Lei shared the technological trends of business digitalization. Digital technology plays an important role in the business field, including sales, marketing, supply chain management, customer relationship management, etc. Digital technology can help companies improve sales efficiency, accurately locate target customers, optimize supply chain management, and improve customer satisfaction.

Jia Guihua, director of teaching and research at China United Enterprise Management Group, introduced the content, tasks, organization and plans of the "Digital Capabilities in Business" standard work, briefly explained the various stages of standard formulation (drafting stage, consultation stage, review stage, approval stage, etc.) and introduced the work in each stage. She reversed the time schedule for standard compilation and expressed that she will actively promote the development and completion of the standard work.

The formal establishment of the drafting working group for the three standards of the BRICSorganization standard "Digital Capabilities in Business" Competition, Skill, Curriculum will further promote new developments in the compilation of BRICSorganization standards.
